Jeff Baena, acclaimed filmmaker and husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, has tragically died by suicide at the age of 46. Known for his darkly comedic films Life After Beth and The Little Hours, Baena was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles-area home on Friday morning. Law enforcement confirmed that his assistant discovered him around 10:30 AM, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A graduate of New York University’s film program, Jeff Baena began his Hollywood career working with legendary directors Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell. His collaboration with Russell proved pivotal, leading to co-writing credits on four screenplays, including the 2004 cult classic I Heart Huckabees, which starred Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
